GENERAL FAQs

Who is eligible to partake in the competition?

All projects are welcome, from beginner to advanced, in any programming language and using whatever hardware you have available as long as they fit into the project categories. You must be a part of a team up to three.

As long as your project submission is complete and adhere to all our rules and regulations!

Will participants receive Certificate of Participation?

Can I enter if I am not based in Malaysia?​

Yes.

You can enter and you stand a chance to also win the prizes that we offer, except the prizes for primary and secondary schools in Malaysia. Everything else is up for grabs! If you are shortlisted, you are welcome to visit us in Penang, Malaysia or you may present your project virtually. However, due to our timezone, the online presentation via Zoom will be set in between 9am to 6pm at GMT+8.

​Participants can enter every category once as an individual or as a team. Multiple entries per category are not allowed.

When is the

deadline?​

Your project proposal must be submitted via our form by 15th March 2024. Shortlisting begins immediately afterwards and we will reach out if you’re shortlisted.

Projects should be submitted in English or Bahasa Malaysia.

What language can I use?​

Who is "chaperone" as stated in the registration form?

The chaperone can be anyone, your teacher, coach or parents. As long as they are the one that will be supervising your team.

It will be 3 people per group.

How many people are required to form a group?

Will the workshops by UTAR and Vitrox Academy be conducted online? In the case of physical workshops, would teams be required to cover their own travel expenses?

The workshops will be in both physical mode and virtual mode. Although we do not cover the transportation, but we do have some small reimbursement.

Participants from the previous Tech 4 Good 2023 (or other competitions) are encouraged to participate with new and innovative ideas, which would add to the diversity and creativity of the competition, otherwise, they can join with previous projects with justifiable, observable and quantifiable with 3 key enhancements, features and upgrades.

May I inquire whether we allowed to utilize ideas from other competitions prior to this one?

Is there an age limit for taking part in this competition?

For Category 1, Students must be from Secondary-Level such as Form 1 to Form 5 (SPM), Year 8 to Year 11 (IGCSE), Junior & Senior High 1,2,3 (UEC)

For Category 2, Students must be from Tertiary-Level (Undergraduate, including STPM, A-Level, Diploma and Foundation)

No, you're allowed to submit ONLY ONE proposal. Try your best to choose the one that you like the most to submit. Good luck!

Are we allowed to submit more than one proposal?

When is the due date of registration for this challenge?

The due date of registration for this challenge is on 15th of March 2024 and participants must also submit proposal for their project during this period as well. (1st January 2024 - 15th March 2024)

The prototype of the project that you wish to demo on the Grand Finale of Tech4Good Challenge must be done before the Presentation Day at ViTrox Headquaters.
